Meeting Your Mate Alexandra and I both worked with Cutco for years. We knew 'of' each other, but had never really met in person. Alexandra always just thought of me as the "big funny guy in Carolina." She even came to a party at MY house one time, but I didn't even meet her then! She was too busy hitting on my roommate. The first time we ever officially connected was on a company trip in Panama, and then more formally so in the airport on our way back to our prospective homes. She cut me in line in security, pretending I was her boyfriend (can you say foreshadowing?) and we had lunch together. We became "Facebook friends" and didn't really talk again until.... The summer of 2014 we were both running sales offices and she called me to pick my brain after my office had been producing massive results. I told her that I'd give her some tips if she would put on a cute dress and heels and go on a date with me! (Not quite that forward initially, but shortly after the conversation, I chose to take my chance and make it clear I had ulterior motives. Hey what can you say? Shooters shoot! Have you seen this girl??) She was actually angry at first at my advancements (or so she says), but I quickly won her over with my charisma (and kindness- according to her). She's definitely the best sale I've ever made. Falling In Love: I knew I loved her on our first date weekend (first date weekend because I was living in Charlotte NC and came down to ATL where she was living to take her to Music Midtown and the zoo- and it was a BADASS first date weekend). I told her I loved her on our second date weekend in October when I came to visit. She realized at that time, or shortly thereafter, that she loved me too. We had so much in common, had so much fun together, and things were so easy, it just always seemed right. Popping the Question: First, she is WAY too intuitive sometimes... this chick KNEW what was going down. So I had to throw her off my tracks when I took her to Washington DC (our soon-to-be home as I was accepting a promotion that brought us to Northern Virginia) for a Nationals playoff game. I told her I wanted to transition into my new role and get settled in Fairfax before we got engaged. She bought it: hook, line and sinker. That is...until the next day when I told her I wanted to leave at 6:30 for our 9pm dinner reservations. I had a photographer ready to capture the moment and was trying to keep us on a schedule. Me? On a schedule? That raised a flag. I took her to the gardens at the Smithsonian Castle in DC. This woman LOVES nature and gardens. We walked and laughed and talked about the future. I have NEVER been so nervous in my entire life (and I don't get nervous). As we strolled into the second garden where I planned on proposing, our photographer Casey was ready to shoot. As I was ready to get on one knee, there were a bunch of other people walking through the shot. I tried to stall by saying some dumb shit about how cool this light post was (face palm... like I said.. I was SO effing nervous) and once the people cleared, I knew it was time. It took about 5 seconds to get the damn box out of jacket pocket because my hand got stuck (face palm number two). And then I got down on one knee and I asked "Alexandra Camille will you marry me?" and she freaked out, was almost in tears, and just stared at the ring and took it out, and I was like "Sooooooo is that a yes?!?" and she yelled "yes! yes!" Luckily, our photographer got all of this on camera, and we proceeded to take some beautiful photos, completely capturing the excitement of that night and moment for us. Afterwards, we went to dinner at a beautiful restaurant in Georgetown called 1789, where the menu actually had printed "Congratulations Bryan and Alexandra" on it, with a champagne toast for us. We had a phenomenal meal, and were sent a dessert drink from my Uncle, Mom, and Aunt (even though they were all the way in New York- they called the restaurant and asked them to send a drink on them and deliver a card to us, telling us Congratulations!)
