Megan and Dave entrusted me with their wedding memories almost a year before their wedding. Our journey began with a delightful lunch in Malibu, California, where their infectious love for each other immediately captured my heart, a love so palpable that it touched anyone fortunate enough to meet them. One couldn't help but notice how Dave gazed at Megan, and in that moment, I was inspired to ensure their affection was beautifully portrayed in our film.
During our storytelling strategy session, we meticulously honed the direction for the film. Their vision was clear: minimal emphasis on their vows, with a spotlight on the music. They yearned for authentic, unscripted moments that would allow each guest to have their unique experience—a concept I wholeheartedly embraced. Together with Megan, Dave, and Zoya, we devised a non-traditional first look, opting for the elevator doors opening, a choice that added an exciting twist to their love story.
When it came to the editing process, I dedicated considerable attention to crafting a rich soundscape, creating an immersive journey with numerous emotional crescendos and releases, mirroring the organic ebb and flow of their special day. Weaving in candid conversations and interactions with friends and family, I aimed to transport the couple back to those cherished moments.
At the film's core, I ingeniously incorporated the poems from their ceremony, offering an abstract yet deeply moving narrative that, as it did during the ceremony, is bound to evoke tears in everyone who watches. And when it came to their vows, I meticulously dissected and replayed them, discovering a common theme that revolved around "moments." Towards the film's conclusion, I wove this theme into their love story, unifying their journey in a profoundly moving way.
