Wedding Date on Oct 2, 2016

From The Groom: Lucia and I met at Cohn High School, Nashville, Tn, in 1974. I was a senior and she was a sophomore. I developed a near-immediate crush but couldn't let it be known because her boyfriend at the time was a friend of mine. I had to resort to winking at her every morning as she passed by my locker (which she claims to remember, lol). After I graduated in June 1975, we lost touch. Fast-forward to 2010 when I saw a post on a friend's Facebook page from a "Lucia" with whom I had several mutual friends. I sent a private message to see if she was indeed the same Lucia from thirty-six years ago. And, much to my delight, she was. I sent a friend request and we started "chatting" right away, playing catch-up on so many lost years. It took a great deal of patience and persistence on my part but I finally broke down the wall. We had both been single parents for many years and were fulfilled with those roles. We had become content being "alone" and neither thought we would ever remarry. However, after a few dates, it was clear this was an orchestration from the Lord and I asked Lucia to marry me on June 9, 2016. She was attending a professional development conference at Montgomery Bell State Park in White Bluff, TN, and I proposed in the chapel at the Historic Founding Site of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. We were married four months later on October 2nd. We may have had a short engagement but have literally known each other for forty-two years. We actually went to the same elementary school but being neither of us can honestly say we knew the other then. As for the planning of the wedding, we chose the small chapel at Vine Street Christian Church to have an intimate wedding with family and close friends. The Maid of Honor, Lucia's daughter, Karissa, developed an event on Facebook: "Hitching of the Hutchersons". As the sporadic response gained momentum, the wedding consultants at Vine Street, just minutes before the wedding, moved the ceremony to the larger sanctuary to accommodate our guests. A color scheme of Fuchsia, Teal, and Plum was woven throughout the bridesmaids and groomsmen attire, floral arrangements, cakes, and reception decorations. The wedding songs were carefully chosen and skillfully performed by Billy Gaines, cousin-in-law of the bride. The songs included in the ceremony were "Amazing Grace", "All of Me", "Only You", and "At Last". The reception musical set was performed by Billy Gaines and Band of David Smith, DeMarco Johnson, and J. C. Teasley. An eclectic song selection, from the 50's through the present, appealed to everyone. A delicious menu was prepared by Uselton Catering, a lifelong friend of the groom. We know you'll enjoy the blooper reel at the end of the video, following the videographer's promotional motif. The photographer and videographer were successful in capturing this priceless moment of the interaction between the flower girl, ring bearers, and audience, a result of NO rehearsal.
