We met at a work happy hour, both fairly new to the company we were working for, not expecting much--Matt in relationship, me freshly out of one . After initially meeting, we didn't speak for 4 months. But as fate has it, we both began to go regularly attend work happy hours which turned into late nights out enjoying NYC nightlife togerher which turned into spending weekends together. Weekends turned into weekdays and so on. Happy hour drinks turned into dinners out and date nights. Then one night, over karaoke and greasy empanadas, at a bar that used to be a coffin shop, Matthew confessed his love for me and asked me to be with him "officially". The rest is history... If anyone knows me, they know I LOVE surprises and Christmas. On December 20, 2017, our 3 year anniversary, Matt asked me to meet him on 34th st and 7th ave, in front of Macy's. When I arrived. I was blindfolded by Matt and put into a bike carriage. The bike carriage was playing romantic french music and off we went. Matt leads me up and down stairs and onto a carousel. I started tearing once on the carousel because I realized this was an extraordinary surprise and may be a proposal! Wasn't entirely sure though since Matt had been the KING of surprises the past 3 years from various trips away to elaborately planned out dates to sweet little thoughts.... he knows how to pull at my heartstrings! Matt leads me off the carousel and when he takes off the blindfold, we are at Bryant Park under the Christmas tree. To my surprise, Matt is dressed as santa and to my left is two of my best friends and his brother dressed as elves. A large crowd of bystanders had formed a circle around us, looking on to see what was going to happen. Matt tells me he wants to spend the rest of his life with me and pulls out a ring. The crowd erupted into cheer. It was PERFECT! Did I mention one of my absolutely favorite movies is Miracle on 34th st?! Well done Matt, well done.
