A Lake George Wedding Dream Come True… Caroline’s wedding dream began when she was very young. “My parents have owned the beautiful Sagamore Resort for decades. I’ve always wanted a wedding with a beautiful backdrop of pine trees and the lake.” Caroline and Derek’s wedding planner found the perfect spot with all of the trees that Caroline could ever want, right on her parent’s sumptuous resort. With the lake directly behind the wedding altar, and showers of fresh blossoms cascading from above, this sweet and romantic wedding was a dazzling, scenic affair. “As much as the Resort was my dream come true, I wanted to make sure that Derek had a hand in the planning, too. Together, we wanted to add personal touches of our own that would reflect who we are and what is really important to us. Most of all, we wanted our wedding to be comfortable for us, our friends and our family.” From the outset, their love for dogs and their passion for adoption was part of the wedding plan. “From the napkins with our dog’s image on it, to the $10,000 we raised for the dog rescue organization Save One Soul, we made sure that Granite played a part in our wedding.” Granite – Caroline and Derek’s own rescue dog – also played the part of Best Dog. “Of course, he broke free during the wedding – and it was such a happy moment for everyone.” Derek played a huge role in the design of the wedding invitations, collaborating with Caroline to transition from a “frilly, flowery design,” to the soft blues of Lake George itself, with a gorgeous painting of the lake and the mountain inside. “Derek helped with so many little pieces of the design – and it was truly our wedding, together.” One of Caroline’s favorite memories was her First Dance with Derek. “We wanted to dance to the Coldplay song, “Sky Full of Stars.” We had such a wonderful band, and they gave us that special song for our first dance – with a special twist just for us. I will never forget that special moment.” This dreamy, lakeside wedding – with lakes, mountains, a cascade of flowers, a beloved dog and A Sky Full of Stars – is one that Caroline and Derek can treasure forever.
