Our love story is as about as unique as it gets. It consists of me loving not one, but two wonderful men. You can call me "The Widowed Bride". My husband Don and I married 3 months ago on a beautiful beach in our hometown of Panama City Beach, FL (we are the town that was recently demolished by Hurricane Michael). Before getting remarried to Don I was a widow, and single mom to a 4-year-old boy. I was married to my first husband, Justin, for 10 years. In June of 2014 (one month shy of our 11th wedding anniversary) I gave birth to our baby boy, Jax. Life had never been so wonderful for Justin and I, and our bond had never been stronger. Then the most unimaginable tragedy occurred. Three days after welcoming our infant, my husband was shot and killed by our next door neighbor who was playing with a gun over 200 yards away. In a matter of seconds, I was transformed from a new mother to a new widow. This was devastating beyond belief. When Don came back into my life (we had been coworkers at one point), Jax was about 20-months-old. A mutual friend of ours set up a dinner so Don and I could reconnect. He was fresh out of a relationship, and I was pretty active in the dating scene. I planned to remain single for some time, and never intended to get into a relationship, but here Don comes along to screw up my plans. Boy am I glad that he did. For the first time in almost two years, I felt like a woman instead of a widow and mom. Not only did he sweep me off my feet, he fell in love with Jax. Our infatuation quickly turned into something more, and over the next year our relationship blossomed into a true romance. I never expected (or wanted) to find love again, as I viewed Justin as my soulmate and my one true love. I feel very grateful to say that I was wrong. I have found love again, and this time it is very different and unique in every way possible. Don has been my hero. He supports my ongoing love for Justin, and helps me honor him every single day. He loves my son like his own, he treats me like a queen, and he gave me the wedding of my dreams. He is even planning to adopt Jax very soon. We did something special for our first dance. We learned a choreographed routine to Tennessee Whiskey, and surprised our guests. Our wedding colors were blush, cobalt blue, and rose gold. We married on the white sandy beach in perfect 75 degree weather. We had a live band (my former band that I sang with) Fortag, and everyone had a heck of a lot of fun.
