These two poets met 2 years ago when Jade needed someone to help her shoot a video of one of her pieces. Jamaal answered the call and the rest is history. Jade's words- I met a man that would change my life forever because of poetry and photography. I’ll never forget the day I prayed and he became the answer knowingly and unknowingly or the first day we met and he was as calm and cool as ever. I wanted to take my poetry seriously and he was a helping hand, ready with a camera, and from that day we’ve been inseparable. We were both born in Brooklyn, NY...one day apart. I came early on January 8, 1990. He came on time on January 9, 1990. He still says he is older because he was conceived first. Even before this life started, God decided we should do it together. We have the same last name. No relation (my paranoid self checked). We spent our lives crossing paths but never meeting. Longing and searching and following one another unknowingly to new cities and states and countries and finally, here in Maryland. I didn’t know a love like this could exist for me. Something so full, so committed, so whole. He loves every inch of me and kisses my ugly. He challenges me and has crafted life with me. He keeps his promises and moves mountains for my security. At 30, all my dreams are coming to life. Disney wasn’t a fantasy. He is my prince.
