We met in undergraduate school at Stony Brook University. We lived in the same dorm. Jess was friends with Dan's roommate and went over to hang out. Dan told her that his uncle made the Sims video games. He was lying. Not too long after that, Jess visited her friend again (Dan's roommate). While they were sitting out in the common room, Dan walked out of his bedroom without saying a word, grabbed an empty alcohol bottle, and walked back into the bedroom. He came back out into the common room and said "Naka, I put that on your pillow for you" and disappeared. He was sleepwalking. Jess thought he was very, very strange. A year and a half after Dan sleepwalked, Dan started falling hard for Jess. When he was finally ready to ask her to date him, he painted a love poem on a bunch of rocks (English majors, right??) and hid them in the preserve on campus in the shape of a heart. Since she said "yes" then, he figured he'd give it another go! Dan led Jess to the top of the mountain where they first hiked together. He handed her his phone: he had a video of all of their friends and family telling her why she should say "yes." When the video was over, Jess turned around and Dan had another love poem written on rocks, arranged in the shape of a heart. At the end of the poem, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She said "YES!"
