How Hannah Met John 5.27.2017 “We met while both getting tattooed on a Saturday. My original tattoo appointment had to be cancelled earlier that week due to work. I’m never available on Saturdays being that I’m a hairdresser and Saturdays are normally my busiest days. That morning, my tattoo artist, who normally remains booked out months in advance, had a last minute cancellation and asked if I could come in. For a reason I can’t remember, I had that Saturday off work, so I came in. When I walked in, I saw John. I remember thinking he was very handsome, then heard him talking about his daughter. I figured he was probably married. The artists in the shop had a mandatory store meeting in the middle of our appointments in which we were left alone for about thirty minutes. Right then and there we clicked and I found out he was also in recovery and was years sober. We added each other on Facebook and scrolled through our mutual friends, wondering how we had never met before. After John left the shop that day, I immediately messaged him and we haven’t gone a day since without seeing each other. Weeks later, John told me his tattoo appointment that day had also been rescheduled from the original appointment day. It was definitely not coincidence.” How John Proposed to Hannah 5.27.2018 “John had originally planned to take me out to a nice restaurant for dinner on the day of our one year anniversary. He planned for my friend to decorate his condo while we were at dinner, then he was going to propose to me when we got back. The day before our one year, I suggested that we all go to my parents’ mountain house for the weekend. I was irritated that John didn’t seem all too excited about my idea. We eventually decided to go to the mountain house the next morning, so John had to cancel the reservation and spent a good amount of time on his phone. Then he told me we needed to take two cars to the mountain house instead of all riding together in one car. Finally I stopped arguing and we agreed to take two cars. That evening when we arrived at the mountain house, John kept insisted that we go to dinner just the two of us since it was our one year anniversary. I grudgingly agreed, not understanding what the big deal was since we eat dinner together almost every night. After finishing dinner, our friends texted me asking for the address of the mountain house. I didn’t know it, so I suggested they just follow us home. After a few minutes, I finally got the address. Unbeknownst to me, Claire and her boyfriend were rushing to get to the mountain house and get things set up for John and I before we got home. We quickly finished dinner, then John told me that he really wanted to make s’mores that night. So off we went to the closest grocery store. After that, John pretended to have a stomach ache so we could stop somewhere else to get medicine while Claire and her boyfriend attempted to get into the mountain house without a key. Luckily, we had left one of the doors unlocked and they were able to get everything set up just in time for us to get home. When we got to the house, the lights were dimmed and there were candles and chocolate everywhere surrounding a ring box. John got down on his knees and asked me to marry him, and I gladly said yes with all my heart.”
