We met at a bar in NYC 6 years ago. We were both out with different friends and Shae and his friends were dancing on stage (Broadway night!) and Justin struck up a conversation with them. Shae thought he was actually on a date with his friend so didn’t pay too much attention but after some social media exchanges between friends everyone parted ways. A few months later when Shae was hanging out with the same friend, she posted a photo online and Justin started messaging her about meeting up. Justin made his way down to the same bar they had met a few months prior and they were unknowingly left alone to chat. Justin and Shae took the train home together (later to find Justin didn’t live as close as he had said) and politely asked for his number the next morning. We got engaged on Shae’s birthday weekend in Dallas, Texas. It was a surprise trip for Shae to see college friends over Memorial Day weekend. Justin shared that he planned a weekend full of relaxing, hangouts with friends, and dinners with Shae’s friends who lived in the area. Prior to leaving Justin became very ill and we almost never left NYC. He powered through and after the flight, lunch, and a nap at the hotel he was feeling better for dinner. Justin told Shae he had surprise dinner plans but needed to do something before. We were staying at the Statler Hotel in downtown Dallas and across the street was Main Street Garden Park. Before getting in our car to head to dinner Justin led Shae across the street oddly not telling him much and after a few turns to avoid a playground and others in the park we found a quiet spot under a tree. There in a secluded area under a tree Justin got down on one knee and proposed. It was just us and very chill and an amazing surprise! After staying at The Fitler Club on Valentine’s Day, after touring another Philly wedding venue, we had a great experience. Shae followed The Fitler Club on Instagram after sharing some photos around the hotel. Within a few weeks things were shutting down due to COVID so our wedding plans at the other venue were put on hold like many others. We were living in NYC but relocated to our home in Philly during the months following the pandemic. In early September Shae saw an Instagram post from the Fitler Club about a free micro-wedding giveaway and thought why not give it a shot. We entered and WON and were getting married in two weeks! It was truly a dream come true to finally get our special day that had been placed on hold for the foreseeable future. It was much smaller than we planned but it worked out so perfectly. We were able to have our family and a few friends gather to celebrate us in a year that has proved to not go as planned. The team at the Fitler Club was phenomenal and helped us navigate a new and extremely quick experience. We were even able to Zoom our wedding to friends and families from all over!
