So how did we meet Katie and Rand? Well, just a couple weeks before their wedding date we get a call from her sister (whose wedding we are filming later this year) and they were in a bit of a pickle. Their wedding was originally planned to be a grand event in North Carolina, but due to pandemic restrictions they could no longer have their wedding there and they were moving the whole affair up to Delaware in just a matter of weeks.
Now, we were not a part of the original wedding day plans, but I am so happy that we were part of the “new plan” because the day that came together was so magical, so amazing. The details of this wedding, that was put together in just weeks, were so crazy amazing.
The day started up north just a bit in Chadds Ford, PA at the Mendenhall Inn. A wedding venue in itself which we have filmed at previously, is also a perfect location to get ready for your wedding day. Walking into the room where Katie was getting ready, we were instantly filled with happiness and excitement.
Katie’s wedding dress, hanging in the window was breathtaking. It was just the beginning of the day, but we knew this was a fairy tale in the making. Every detail from the brilliant flowers by Petals Flowers to the pieces of jewelry that spanned generations in the family, everything was perfect.
We couldn’t wait to join up with the dapper groom, awaiting the first look of his bride-to-be by the reflecting pool at the Winterthur Museum and Country Estate. It was a perfect setting and the emotions from Rand when he saw Katie for the first time were so genuine.
Off to St. Margaret of Scotland Parish in Newark, DE for a spectacular ceremony. Katie, absolutely stunning in her wedding dress, turned heads as she walked down the aisle and it wasn’t long after their love became official.
The Winterthur Museum and Country Estate is a sprawling and enchanting 1,000 acre venue with rolling meadows and woodlands, 60-acre garden all set against the backdrop of Henry Francis du Pont’s magnificent former home. So, finding cinematic locations for filming were at every corner.
From the steps of the manor, to the sprawling gardens throughout the estate and of course the reflecting pool, how can you not have the wedding of your dreams here.
It truly was remarkable what Katie, Rand and their families put together with so much uncertainty in such a bazar year. But in the end, it was an incredible day and such an amazing love story we were able to tell. Congratulations Katie and Rand, you two are a remarkable couple.
