He was going through a mental breakdown and during that time she was "there for him no matter what and she showed him that she truly cared about him". He has never had someone who was there for him no matter what, but she was. She knew day one that Doug was the one for her. He was the only person she never had to compromise with. She always looked for someone who was like her dad and was as great of a man as he was, and Doug is that man. He loves her the way her dad does and is there for her.
