As wedding filmmakers, we’ve seen loads of venues: pretty ones, intimate ones, grand ones, rustic ones, but few have as much personal meaning as the venue Lindsey + Cooper chose for their big day. Skyline Farm is where L was born and spent the first few years of her life. Purchased by her grandfather in 1970, the farm is where he kept his collection of horse carriages. At the height of his collection, L’s grandfather had over 300 antique carriages and sleighs. Beloved by the town of North Yarmouth, it’s since been converted to a museum where visitors can also enjoy seeing these beautiful carriages. On their wedding day, guests were invited to tour the museum to look at over 100 of the carriages still on the farm. A few even decorated the grounds near the ceremony and reception space. While her grandfather is no longer with us, I can definitely imagine him smiling down on L+C, heart full that they would choose this special place to start their lives together.
How fitting it would be that L+C would have the party of a lifetime in a place with so much to tell. The history and sense of family in the air was palpable; each pane of glass on the barn, each acre of grass in the field, and each horse carriage had a story to tell. It wasn’t just a place, it was a part of what made this family who they are. It felt like a truly full-circle moment. If you’re ever near North Yarmouth, ME do yourself a favor and check it out because it is a truly stunning place.
