They met through a mutual friend - it was a highschool friend of Matthew's and an old college friend of Sarah's. Matt & Sarah both attended MTSU at the same time, had the same group of friends but never met each other until 2 years ago, May 24, 2015. Their mutual friend Matt Richmond was in town visiting from Los Angeles & it had been 3 years since Sarah last saw him. He begged her to come hang out with him while he was in town, but the problem was she had just returned from her Grandmother's funeral - her & Sarah's Grandfather died unexpectedly within 6 weeks of each other, so she really wasn't in the mood for socializing. But at the last minute, she decided she needed a night out and met him & a group of friends in Nashville. That's when she met Matt Young (her husband). (Little side note, the last thing Sarah's Grandmother said to her before she passed was "I just want to see you get married", she worried about her being by herself, so Sarah really thought it was divine intervention that she met Matt the day after her grandmother's funeral.) She didn't think much of him the first night, but then she met up with the 2 Matts the next day & they ended up spending all day together. From that point, Matthew and Sarah became friends & started hanging out pretty regularly. It was 3 months into their friendship that they decided to date & they haven't been apart since! Matthew proposed in Venice, Italy on a Gondola. It sounds romantic, but there was really nothing romantic about it haha. He was so nervous, that he literally threw the ring at Sarah & she just started laughing & couldn't stop. It was probably the most awkward thing ever.
