When piecing together a wedding film, I often think of it as a bunch of mini stories being told through moments that come together to paint a picture of the couple’s life and love. For Missy and Jared, their journey to parenthood brought many beautiful little stories to their wedding day. Some of the most moving moments of their day were the ones where you could feel the strength and depth parenthood brought them. As a mother myself, it was such an honor to witness. It is not lost on me that the couples I work with are inviting me in on the most intimate and vulnerable parts of their life by having me document their wedding day. Just by spending this one day with them, I often learn so much more than what they do for a living and their hobbies. I get a glimpse into the family dynamic, the depth of their love, their greatest joys and sometimes deepest wounds. All the parts of their story that I know they will look to one day as the most meaningful in their life. These two requested only a 2 minute highlight film. This was incredibly challenging for me. I couldn’t possibly understand how I would do their love story justice in two minutes. I typically create 10-15 minute wedding films. But by the end of it, I saw there is beauty in not telling the full story. Bringing in emotion in subtle ways and leaving the rest for imagination. I still get chills when I watch this film. Their vows are so raw and honest, the love between them so strong. This moving day in Vail, Colorado in the most stunning church will forever be in my heart. Not to mention the bride was a former So You Think You Can Dance star, so the floral dance floor and her talent made for an epic end to the night.
