From the Bride: Patrick and I grew up together in Birmingham, Alabama. We went to the same school and the same church, and always saw each other at youth group events. He was even good friends with my twin brother, Davis. One day at church, Patrick finally worked up the confidence to ask for my number. We dated for almost a year in high school. Patrick was my first official boyfriend, first kiss, first break-up… he set my standards very high! After a few more years of “just being friends,” (everyone knew this was a complete lie and that we still had feelings for each other) we reconnected at senior prom just before going to college together. I was so determined to be single, but he was just as determined to date me. Patrick pursued me for so long, and I’m thankful he did! I think that meeting each other at such an early age was a blessing because it allowed us to watch each other grow through so many stages of life together. God gave us such a peace about our dating relationship all the way through college. During those four years in college, we walked through some of the hardest and some of the most joyful times together. Through it all, I truly started to realize how much Patrick meant to me! Now I can’t imagine life without him. From the Groom: After five incredible years of adventures, I was ready to ask Daley to marry me. We had taken pictures for our high school senior prom at a view overlooking Birmingham. That dance was a special night for us, and it was the perfect spot to ask her to spend forever with me. After getting the blessing of her parents, I started planning. On the afternoon of November 19th, I made up a story that my car had broken down while running an errand, and that she would have to come pick me up there to start our date night. For a minute there, I was worried she wouldn’t make it before dark. Daley was at her sister’s baby shower and wasn’t answering her phone. Thankfully, she arrived right at sunset, and I convinced her to get out of her car and come “look at the view.” When we got close, she froze in shock as she saw the blanket laid out with candles and roses. We were both shaking, either from nerves or from how cold it was (probably both). I read from Proverbs 31, because she exemplifies everything about those verses. Then I got down on one knee and asked her to become my wife. She said yes, and the rest is history. I couldn't be more excited to have Daley become my wife!
