Perla & Jake met in college but they met again in Free Press Summer Fest, a weekend-long summer concert in Houston TX. Perla had always had a crush on him in college, "but Jake was way out of my league", said Perla. "We had moved back to Houston and he just didn't leave me alone lol. But I knew we would date somehow, someway ;) lol". This is part of an interview from a blog where the photos were featured: On October 10th Eugene Drake (photographer and videographer) embarked on one of his most favorite and challenging adventures yet! Not only did they hike more than 8 miles round trip but they crossed difficult terrain along the way. Rocks, rivers, boulders, mud, altitude, and huge trees…. one thing is for sure they weren’t in Houston anymore! "It was hard to breathe, we were hiking at more than 2 thousand feet altitude with rain, and temperatures below 40°F. Can you imagine those conditions, plus heavyweight on our backs? I was carrying my photography equipment. However, everything was worth it. We had breathtaking views everywhere… and reaching the final location was something that I can’t describe with words… it’s something beyond my imagination.. a secret of nature!" Said Eugene. Upon arriving at Colchuck Lake the couple started preparing to exchange vows. Picture this… The bride, Perla, is doing her own makeup sitting on a boulder while overlooking the ice blue lake. The groom, Jake, is staring off at the mountains as he puts on his suit. Perlas dress was designed and handmade by her mother, the only person that knew they were sneaking away to commit their lives to one another. Intimate doesn’t even begin to describe this experience. Time stood still as they exchanged their vows. Their voices the only sound you could hear echoing over the lake and bouncing off of the mountains. At this moment they committed their lives to one another. Just the couple, photographers, pastor, and nature. As they were pronounced husband and wife they shared a passionate kiss followed by literally shouting their love from the mountain tops! After soaking in the beauty of the moment the couple then proceeded on to a private cabin out in the woods where they then spent the night reflecting, rejoicing and relaxing. As Eugene said this was a shoot of a lifetime. These breathtaking views were everything he had imagined and more. Looking for every excuse to go back this was a surreal experience. As a professional photographer and as a creative this elopement, the scenery, and this whole journey has left Eugene feeling beyond inspired and wanting more! Despite the effort of the hike, every sore muscle, blister, and feeling of exhaustion the trek was worth this once in a lifetime moment. A story they can pass on to family and share with their future children when the time is right… one thing is for sure that something this special was meant to happen for Perla and Jake. So unique to them and their relationship this is a moment to look back on as they grow old together. This elopement is something that dreams are made of. Congratulations on your new life together Perla and Jake! From blog post: http://unveiledbliss.com/an-elopement-of-a-lifetime/
