Fred & Staph met at a competitive performing arts drumline audition in their college years. They both were dating other people, but were friends at that time as they performed together in the same ensemble for two years. Staph used to cut Fred's hair (and even his at the time girlfriend's hair). Years later, they started teaching at San Marino high school drumline together. She asked him out after getting reacquainted that first year. He said he used to have a crush on her all those years ago. Five and a half years later, he proposed with Booger (Staph's family dog) and Amanda (her maid of honor!).
