Wedding Date on Jun 5, 2022

“You are the one who will open the door.” 🗝💫 When David’s procession down the aisle began, my ears instantly perked up. It was instant goosebumps and tears from me (I held it together though y’all!!). I smiled at Jesse with wide eyes because I could not believe how perfect this song was for this moment. It just felt so grand and so serene at the same time. The song, the theme from the Playstation 2 game Kingdom Hearts, holds a special place in our hearts. It was a game Jesse and I played independently as kids and one we’ve replayed multiple times as a couple. It’s a game about friendship, love, promises, and destiny. About finding your person and doing everything you can to hold onto them. It’s both nostalgic and timeless. As soon as Jesse heard it, he had a vision for how to edit this one. Mixing in scenes and audio from the game, Yunmi & David’s love story became that much more synonymous with the game’s main characters and love interests Kairi + Sora. Child-like wonder, adventure, and dreams of doing big things with your loved one by your side. It all fit so perfectly; not just the edit, but Y + D too. Their story, their choice of venue, their personalities all filled the day with love and nostalgia. Memories of endless weekend days sat on the floor playing Kingdom Hearts wondering, “Who will be my Sora?” and “Who will be my Kairi when I’m older?” And then you grow up, and you find each other, and you make promises, and you realize destiny might actually exist. Your person exists. And you do everything you can to hold onto them because they’ve opened a door so full of light that you never want it to close. 🗝💫❤️
